Terms of use
Plain English, because there is not much to say. Last updated September 2026.
Using the site
Interlude is free to use. No account is required to play, there is no subscription and nothing to buy. Play as much as you like, on as many devices as you like.
What you may not do is the short list you would expect: do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure, and do not scrape it wholesale or republish it as your own.
The games themselves
Every game here is a public domain game — FreeCell, Pyramid, mancala, word ladders, sudoku. The rules of these games belong to nobody and are free for anyone to implement, which is exactly why they were chosen.
Game rules are not owned by anyone; the particular implementation of them on this site is. The code, the artwork, the written rules and the strategy guides here are original work and are not free to copy.
No affiliation with, or endorsement by, any company producing a commercial game is claimed or implied.
Your progress
As the site works today, your streak, results and badges are stored in your own browser and are not sent to us. This has a consequence worth stating plainly rather than burying:
Your history can be lost, and there is no backup. Clearing site data deletes it. Using a different browser or device shows a fresh start. Safari deletes script-writable storage after seven days without a visit unless the site has been added to the home screen. None of this is recoverable, by you or by us, because no copy exists anywhere else.
If a permanent record matters to you, that is what optional accounts will be for: signing in would store your results on a server so they survive a cleared browser and follow you between devices, and would be what makes leaderboards possible. The privacy page sets out what that would mean. Playing without an account will always be possible, and without signing in nothing about your play leaves your device.
Until then, treat a streak as a pleasant thing rather than a possession.
Availability
The site is provided as-is, with no guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. It is an independent project, not a service with an uptime commitment. Puzzles are verified before they are dealt, but no promise is made that every puzzle, score or streak calculation is free of bugs — if you find one, tell me and it will be fixed.
To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from using the site — including, and let us be honest about the realistic worst case, a broken streak.
Links and advertising
Pages may link to other sites, which are not under our control and are not our responsibility. If advertising is added in future it will be clearly separated from the games and will never sit inside the play area; see the privacy page for how ad cookies would be handled.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top will change with them, and continuing to use the site means accepting the current version.
